Billy Sheehan is a Gaelic football player from Ireland.
He usually plays as a forward for the Laois county team.[1]
He began his career with the Austin Stacks club in Tralee [2] and graduated to the Kerry senior football team, appearing in the National Football League a few times in 2001 and again in 2003.
In 1999, Sheehan was part of the UCC senior football team. That year UCC qualified for the Cork County Championship final. Footballing kingpins Nemo Rangers provided the opposition, however, that game ended in a draw. The replay saw UCC prove too strong for Nemo and a merited 1–11 to 1–8 victory gave Sheehan a county senior championship winners' medal. UCC later represented the county in the provincial championship and even reached the final. Doonbeg provided the opposition, however, UCC thrashed the Clare champions by 1–17 to 1–7, giving Sheehan a Munster club winners' medal. The university's great run of success came to an end with a 2–16 to 3–6 defeat by Crossmaglen Rangers in the All-Ireland semi-final.
A UCD student, Billy transferred to the Emo club in 2004 and was called up to the Laois senior team by fellow Kerryman Mick O'Dwyer.[3]
